There is a need to honour the path cleared by those who have walked before us to ensure the health and well-being of the people, land, waters and air in the North. There has never been a more important time to organize: for our youth, and for the future of the north. Gho-Bah/Gombaa  is a concert of new music by northern artists Leela Gilday, Stephen Kakfwi, Paul Andrew, Catherine Lafferty, Lawrence Nayally, Pat Braden, Andrea Bettger, Casey Koyczan, Meg Dolovich, Deneza Nakehk'o, and guests Debashis Sinha and Robert Walsh. The purpose of the celebration is to create awareness of the cultural diversity and resilience of the Dene, Inuvialuit, and Metis peoples of the North.  It will also touch on the history of residential schools and how we persevered to become the strong nations we are today.  This is the first step towards healing our relationship with non-Indigenous peoples, towards reconciliation. The show is named Gho-Bah because this is like the first light of dawn: we have made it through the night.  We gratefully acknowledge support for this show from the Canada Council for the Arts and the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation.
