DESCRIPTION:NACC’S PERFORMANCE/MOTIONCAPTURE WORKSHOP SERIES \n\n\n\n\n\nMultiple pre-showings before scheduled programming: \n\n\n\n\n\n\nOctober 13 @ 6:30 pm – 7:15 pm\n\n\n\nOctober 18 @ 6:30 pm – 7:15 pm\n\n\n\nOctober 19 @ 6:30 pm – 7:15 pm\n\n\n\nFebruary 3 @ 6:30 pm – 7:15 pm\n\n\n\nFebruary 17 @ 6:30 pm – 7:15 pm\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMarch 1 @ 6:30 pm – 7:15 pm\n\n\n\nMarch 12 @ 6:30 pm – 7:15 pm\n\n\n\nApril 6 @ 6:30 pm – 7:15 pm\n\n\n\nMay 11 @ 6:30 pm – 7:15 pm\n\n\n\nMay 25 @ 6:30 pm – 7:15 pm\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVIRTUAL REALITY STATION | TWO SHORT FILMS | NACC LOBBY \n\n\n\nA thrilling\, engaging\, educational\, and intergenerational outreach program in Dettah and Ndilo ̨\, Northwest Territories \n\n\n\nThe XR Connection: NACC’s Performance/Motion Capture Workshop Series was an initiative in partnership with Dechı ̨ta Nàowo that engaged youth from Dettah and Ndilo ̨ through storytelling\, virtual reality\, and animation. The workshopsallowed participants to develop a story\, characters\, and scripts\, which wereturned into two immersive storytelling experiences: Sedeè & Dechı ̨ta\, Zo ̨o ̨ & No ̨di \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe workshops were structured in a way that: \n\n\n\n\nThe Elders presented stories and advised the Youths about what it was like in the time that the Youths’ stories were set.\n\n\n\nThe Youths developed their own story and scripts. They then performed the actionsof the 3D characters in the story using Motion Capture (MOCAP) Suits.\n\n\n\nThe Adults then developed the environment and character 3D models in each story.\n\n\n\nProfessional artists were involved along the way to ensure the quality and completionof the projects. This project wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of the leading professional resources involved in this project: Davis Heslep\, Shaun Anderson\, Andy Rudolph\, and Laurie-Ann Lines. NACC would also like to send a big Thank You to all of the students\, elders\, and drummers involved in making this happen. We are happy this initiative allowed local youth to engage in indigenous storytelling\, VR animation and design\, playing live\, and sound design.
