It explores the erosion of our relationship to night\, inspired by Christopher Dewdney’s popular book Acquainted with the Night: Excursions through the world after dark. From the three stages of nightfall to the science of the cosmos\, from the birth of nightlife to the empire of dreams\, from the biology of nocturnal creatures to the mythology of the night sky\, World After Dark takes us on an epic voyage through the mysteries of night\, inviting us to reclaim the night – a metaphor for the sensual\, the embodied\, and the feminine. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA New Multi-Media Dance Theatre Experience\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBEHIND THE WORK\n\n\n\n\n\nA choreographer\, dancer\, producer\, director\, and artsblog facilitator\, Shannon Litzenberger is known for creating live performance experiences at the intersection of forms. Rooted in dance\, Litzenberger’s innovative collaborations come to life in conversation with theatre\, literary and visual arts. DESCRIPTION:Bella Dance Academy presents The Nutcracker\, a timeless holiday tradition for the whole family! It’s Christmas Eve at the Silberhaus residence\, and excitement runs high as last minute preparations are made. Guests begin to arrive to celebrate the holiday with Clara and her family. Arriving late in the midst of the celebration is Drosselmeyer\, Clara’s mysterious uncle. He entertains everyone with magic tricks and mechanical dolls. Drosselmeyer then presents Clara with a wooden nutcracker soldier. Her brother Fritz feels slighted and becomes jealous. He tries to take the nutcracker from Clara and in the struggle\, the nutcracker is broken. Clara is devastated\, but Drosselmeyer mends the nutcracker. As the children grow weary the guests depart\, and Drosselmeyer disappears as mysteriously as he had arrived. Clara carefully places her beloved nutcracker under the Christmas tree before the family retires to bed. That night\, Clara tiptoes back to the Christmas tree and falls asleep next to the wooden Nutcracker doll.
