SUMMARY:Kiuryaq
DESCRIPTION:Presented by \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA Production By \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNever whistle at the Northern Lights. They will come down and get you. They will play soccer with your head. They are also ancestors calling you home. Kiuryaq is ‘Aurora Borealis’ in the Western Arctic Inuvialuit language of Inuvialuktun\, in reference to their bright colours. \n\n\n\nKiuryaq is an immersive circumpolar theatre performance that explores our relationship with the Northern Lights. It is a multi-disciplinary piece created in collaboration with sound composers\, digital media artists\, and theatre artists from Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples of Canada\, Greenland\, Sápmi territory and Alaska.  \n\n\n\nWe follow these northern stories of connection that inspire us through the aurora borealis\, or kiuryaq in Inuvialuktun. These stories – frightening\, spiritual\, epic and playful – are situated in our memories of then and experiences of now. All are held in our vast cosmologies\, converging in ways that could not have imagined when this journey began.  \n\n\n\nKiuryaq is about two siblings born in the North\, an older sister and a younger brother. One is taken down south by a forced adoption and raised with no knowledge of their place of birth\, the other is raised under the Aurora with their grandparents. Under the ancestral connection of the Northern Lights\, choices are made that change both their realities. \n\n\n\nKiuryaq is a transformative performance work which brings the circumpolar region together to share wisdom\, warnings and humour to all those who are curious. In form\, Kiuryaq blends theatre\, with three performers embodying multiple roles; concert\, featuring original music played by a live string quartet; and film\, with expansive\, immersive projections.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCreative Team\n\n\n\nProducers: Akpik Theatre & TheaturtleDirector: Reneltta ArlukMusic Director: Carmen BradenWriters: Reneltta Arluk\, Rawdna Carita Eira\, Alon NashmanDramaturgy: Christopher MorrisCultural Envoy: Rawdna Carita EiraPerformers: Julia Ulayok Davis\, Salik Lennert\, Elin OskalChoreographer: Fia GrogonoTechnical Director: Jessica HanProduction Manager: Kayleigh SandomirskyStage Management: Ashley ReesLighting Design: Itai ErdalCostume & Props Design: Jay HavensComposer | Sound Designer: Carmen BradenLive Performance and Recording: Dior Quartet (Noa Sarid\, Joanne Yesol Choi\, Yuri Santos\, Tobias Elser\, Jacob Clewell\, Caleb Georges) Set Design | Illustrator: Hailey VerbonacVideo Design: Chimerik 似不像Digital Content: Davis Heslep & Barry BilinskyVideo Dramaturgy: Barry BilinskyCollaborating Filmmakers: Riddle Films & Cabin ProductionsImage Design: Rise Frequency Intuitive Graphic DesignNew Media/Projection Design Support Team: Chimerik 似不像New Media/Projection Design Collaborator: Vanka SalimNew Media/Projection Design Consultant & Facilitator: Sammy Chien-MacCaullProjection Technical Consultant: Cody DysonLive Sound Technician: Mike Auty \n\n\n\n\nhttps://vimeo.com/1037889251?fl=pl&fe=vl\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis event is organized by:

SUMMARY:Kick-Ass Love: An Evening with Trevor Kasteel
DESCRIPTION:COURAGE + SUFFERING = RESILIENCE \n\n\n\nJoin Northern builder\, father\, and mental health advocate Trevor Kasteel for the official launch of his debut book\, podcast\, and speaker series\, Kick-Ass Love\, on the two-year anniversary of the public breakdown that changed his life. Trevor chose courage over silence. This evening of storytelling and conversation promises to inspire\, provoke thought\, and even make you laugh. \n\n\n\nIn a world where men are told to man up\, take the pain\, and stay silent\, Trevor shares his raw\, transformative journey with unflinching honesty. For decades\, Trevor carried a devastating secret\, fighting the invisible weight of complex trauma while contributing to his community as a city councillor and building his successful construction business. When the fires of summer 2023 triggered another mental health crisis for him\, Trevor faced a critical choice: his business or his life. He chose life. \n\n\n\n“I had to choose my business or my life—I chose me.” \n\n\n\nTrevor’s story dismantles the myth that vulnerability is weakness\, instead showing that truth-seeking and truth-telling can be acts of self-leadership and strength. \n\n\n\nThis intimate evening celebrates the release of Trevor’s personal Kick-Ass Love Formula: Suffering + Courage = Resilience\, which he describes as a detailed blueprint for reclaiming oneself after trauma—how to face the pain\, tell the truth\, and heal. Also launching this evening are Season One of Trevor’s Kick-Ass Love podcast and his new speaker series. \n\n\n\nThe evening is more than entertainment; it is a firepit of connection and community\, where we tell the truth to each other without looking away. \n\n\n\n“You are not your suffering; you are your resilience\,” says Kasteel. “This book\, this brand\, this podcast—it’s not just my story. It’s proof that true courage isn’t the absence of fear\, but the willingness to walk into it—and to heal.” \n\n\n\nExperience an honest conversation about resilience\, breaking cycles of shame\, and choosing healing over hiding. Be a part of the launch! Come and celebrate the launch of Kick-Ass Love with us. Meet Trev\, grab a book\, and discover your own courage and resilience. \n\n\n\nThis event is being streamed online. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCreative Team \n\n\n\nAuthor\, Storyteller: Trevor Kasteel \n\n\n\nPodcast Co-host: Tina Overbury \n\n\n\nBooks will be available for sale via Kindle (online) and on-site. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nLINK TO TREVOR’S GOFUNDME Campaign \n\n\n\n\nThis event is organized by:

SUMMARY:Matt Andersen
DESCRIPTION:With Opening Act Old Man Luedecke! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen Matt Andersen steps on stage\, he brings a lifetime of music to every note he plays. His latest album\, The Hammer & The Rose\, is a veritable garden of heart; a (mostly) delicate collection of tender folk and stirring soul numbers that find the New Brunswick-born songwriter thoughtfully tending to the most important things in life. Andersen’s stage presence is informed by decades of cutting his teeth in dusty clubs\, dim-lit bars\, and grand theatres all over the world\, delivering moving performances that run the gamut from intimate to wall-shaking. In the studio\, he’s always brought the same attention to detail and commitment to craft as he has to his live show. The result is a multi-faceted and poignant body of work\, which has led him to amass over 33 million streams on Spotify and 30 million views on YouTube. \n\n\n\nIn addition to headlining major festivals\, clubs and theatres throughout North America\, Europe\, and Australia\, he has shared the stage and toured with Marcus King\, Beth Hart\, Marty Stuart\, Greg Allman\, Tedeschi Trucks Band\, Randy Bachman\, Serena Ryder\, Tab Benoit\, and more. \n\n\n\nAndersen nabbed the 2013 and 2016 European Blues Awards for Best Solo/Acoustic Act\, was the first ever Canadian to take home top honours in the solo category at the 2010 International Blues Challenge in Memphis\, won the CIMA Road Gold award in 2015\, and has won multiple Maple Blues Awards. Matt Andersen & The Big Bottle of Joy was nominated for a Juno Award in 2024. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBack Again in the NWT As the Opening Act: Old Man Luedecke \n\n\n\nOld Man Luedecke is the recording and performing name of two-time JUNO award-winning and Polaris prize-nominated singer/songwriter Chris Luedecke. He’s a multiple East Coast Music Award winner known for his high-energy\, banjo-driven stompers\, touching guitar ballads\, and dry\, humorous stories. Old Man Luedecke has been making a soundtrack to an authentic life for nearly twenty years. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBorn in Toronto and long-time resident of the country near Chester\, Nova Scotia\, Luedecke began recording in the early 2000s DIY folk scene of Halifax. He made his two JUNO-winning albums for Black Hen Music in the late ‘00s\, with Steve Dawson as producer\, at Vancouver’s famed Factory studio. Luedecke has kept up many worldwide concert appearances\, playing in Europe and around Canada and the USA\, and six trips to Australia\, including a memorable tour where his whole young family travelled with him around rural Queensland for the Festival of Small Halls. \n\n\n\nAnd A Special NWT Collaboration with Pat Braden and Norman Glowach \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis event is organized by:

SUMMARY:Pantalone Runs For Mayor: Naughty Night Out
DESCRIPTION:PANTELONE RUNS FOR MAYOR!A Commedia dell’Arte Spectacle \n\n\n\nCommedia dell’Arte\, a form of improvisational theatre that relies on stock-characters\, slapstick humour costumes\, props and masks\, is coming to NACC! \n\n\n\nSomething strange is happening in town… The mayor’s gone\, the power vacuum is pulling in all the usual suspects\, and ambition\, greed\, and sheer stupidity are on the rise. When self-serving\, penny-pitching Pantelone decides to run for office\, it sets off a chain reaction of wild schemes\, unexpected betrayals and double crosses\, and more than a little bad poetry. But who will win the election? That’s up to fate—and maybe you. \n\n\n\nExpect love triangles\, political intrigue\, mislabeled magic potions\, and plenty of laughs. And because this is Commedia dell’Arte\, you\, the audience\, help shape the action and the outcome of the story\, meaning no two performances are ever the same! \n\n\n\nEach show is a hilarious mix of masks\, mayhem\, and improv\, performed by classic characters. \n\n\n\nWhat to Expect \n\n\n\nAudience Involvement: Expect a little playful participation – but nothing too scary! \n\n\n\nStyle: Classic commedia dell’arte – masks\, slapstick\, satire\, and audience play \n\n\n\nRuntime: About 50-60 minutes (short\, sharp\, and hilarious) \n\n\n\nNaughty Night Out: The same cast of characters\, with the same premise\, but a different experience! Recommended for ages 14+ (saucier jokes\, cheeky twists\, sexual comedy) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis event is organized by:
