In the early 1980s, when the Northern Arts and Cultural Centre was first under construction, there was a nationwide fundraising campaign organized by the Globe & Mail newspaper. With a $500 donation, businesses and private citizens were offered an engraved nameplate that would be attached to seat arms in the completed theatre. The campaign raised over $120,000 and those original plates remained in place for almost 30 years until 2013, when NACC underwent its first major renovation.
Our new, red, upholstered seats are once again being adorned with golden nameplates. Each nameplate sells for only $150 and will remain in the theatre for decades to come as a symbol of support for the local performing arts. The funding also goes towards developing the arts across the six regions of the territory- from performance to outreach programs.
As a sponsor, you may choose your very own seat and write an inscription of up to 30 characters. This inscription can be a the sponsor’s name, business, or a personalized message. Sponsors will receive a personalized thank you card from the NACC staff, along with a copy of their nameplate.
