ARTIST OF THE MONTH AT NACC

ARTIST STORY

Emily Mercredi is a multidisciplinary artist driven by a constant desire to evolve creatively and expand her skill set. Originally from Edmonton, Alberta, she now lives in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, a move inspired by love. Along her journey, she studied the atelier method of painting from Gene Prokop for many years and also lived in Montreal, where she attended Syn Studio Art School.

Since her first solo exhibition in 2008, Emily has participated in numerous group shows and solo exhibits. In addition to being an artist, she works in the arts, is also a drummer, a jack-of-all-trades, a wife, and a mother.

“I work with a wide range of mediums, oil, acrylic, ink, digital tools, glass, metal, wood, found objects, discarded furniture, natural materials, and even trash—anything that sparks my creativity. I love transforming broken or forgotten items into something beautiful and functional. It mirrors my own journey of growth, struggle, and personal transformation.”
