NACC has expanded the scope of our fundraiser to not just raise funds for NACC, but to be a platform for other artists to fundraise for themselves and other causes.

Here’s how it works:

1. Anyone can sign up to participate through the NACC website – professional artists, amateur individuals, families, school groups, a team of colleagues

2. Set an artistic goal – it could be learning a new instrument, creating a new piece of art to showcase, or attending as many live performances as possible (more ideas on our website!)

3. Make a pledge (a promise) to work toward your goal — every day, three times per week, etc. — throughout the month of February

4. Tell the public what you’re fundraising for (purchasing art supplies, attending a dance competition, or to raise donations for NACC!)

5. Get creating! Share progress toward your goal on social media accounts to raise awareness of your pledge and attract donations to your cause!

How to Donate:

All participants and their pledges will be posted on the NACC website. Browse our fundraising page to choose a pledge and make your donation – you can choose more than one! Make sure to share your favourite pledges online to help their fundraising efforts!

Why is NACC doing this?

We believe the arts are a powerful force that connects our Northern communities. NACC’s mandate is to encourage the development of the performing arts from all cultural traditions. This fundraiser creates a platform for artists and artistic groups to showcase their work, reaching a broad audience, raising awareness and money to further artistic goals.

NACC is a non-profit charitable organization. Fundraising and donations represent a significant portion of our annual operating budget. We rely on fundraising to supplement funding we do receive from grants. Our success in receiving grant money, in part, depends on showing funders, like the Government of Canada, that we are investing effort and capital in raising our own revenues, and not solely relying on grants to fund NACC operations.

Donating to NACC, and participating in our fundraisers, shows investors that our communities – artists and the public – are themselves physically and financially invested in the arts, specifically NACC. If Northerns think NACC is an organization worth investing in, so too should other funders. This in turn helps NACC secure more funding to be able to offer even more programming across the North.

Why participate by making a pledge?

Lots of reasons!

  • Amplify the reach of your current fundraising initiative
  • Maybe you’re an artist who questions, “but can I raise money for the art I want to create?” …you never know until you try!
  • Connect with other artists and see what folks around the NWT are doing!
  • Challenge your friends, family, teammates, and colleagues to try something new — even learn a new skill — it’s fun!
  • Raise money for the NWT’s only arts Center!
