Who we are….

Indigenous grassroots arts organizations contribute to the cultural fabric of communities and play a vital role in society. ATTI! Indigenous Artists Collective was formed, in partnership with NACC, to deliver meaningful and culturally relevant arts programming in the communities across the NWT by and for Indigenous people. Indigenous people have been creating and mastering art for thousands of years. Through ATTI!, our goal is to amplify the voices and talents of artists who are honouring their culture and creating positive social change through art. The north is rich with heritage, spirit and community. This initiative encourages empathy between cultures, encourages valuable dialogue for those in isolated communities, and allows us to reflect upon the massive role art plays in life.

A Message from Tanya Snow, Coordinator of ATTI and NACC community outreach:

As Atti! Indigenous Artists Collective enters its 3rd year of operation, Mahsi Cho to current and past Board of Directors who have poured their heart and energy into building a foundation that will elevate Indigenous art across the NWT. Qujannamiik also to the NACC team for supporting our collective as we plant stable roots in Indigenous arts administration in the North. As we enter a new cycle of growth, we’re excited to announce funding that will expand our capacity. My name is Tanya Snow. I have served on the board for the last 2 years and will become the full-time Program Coordinator this September. Thanks to the Canada Council for the Arts for sponsoring our next project, a Multi-Disciplinary Mentorship Program. Through this program, we will be working with Indigenous youth in remote communities and pairing them with established Indigenous writers, dancers and musicians to grow strength, skill and confidence in their chosen medium. We will present a showcase for this program to the public in the summer of 2025 – so stay tuned!

The NWT is home to rich Indigenous culture, art and talent. This next step in our journey will ensure that the wide cultural identity of each community can gain access and have their artistic voices developed and amplified. Mahsi Cho!
