The Northern Arts and Cultural Centre invites applications for the position of Executive and Artistic Director. This position is located in Yellowknife, NT. Applications will be accepted until August 1st at 5pm MDT.

The Northern Arts and Cultural Centre is one of the predominant culture and performing arts organizations in the Northwest Territories with a mandate to encourage the development of performing arts from all cultural traditions, and to provide a venue in the Northwest Territories for both professionally and community produced performances. 

As a representative of NACC to the community and the lead of the NACC team, the Executive and Artistic Director is tasked primarily with creating a performing arts community that is inclusive, and as such is supportive, inspiring, and encouraging to all who enter.

EXECUTIVE AND ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Reports to: NACC Board of Directors

Location: Northern Arts and Cultural Centre Office, Yellowknife, NT 

Salary: Starting at $84,000 annually

Working with the Board of Directors, the Executive and Artistic Director is responsible and accountable for the general administration and operation of the Centre, the development and implementation of fundraising campaigns, the the promotion and development of the Centre and it’s annual season program, and achieving the goals as set out in our Strategic Plan 2025-2029 “Rooted in Purpose, Cultivating Impact”.

This position requires a candidate that has outstanding planning, organizational, communications and management skills. The Executive and Artistic Director should be a strong leader with proven decision-making abilities, an innovative thinker, a creative planner and effective motivator to Board members, staff and volunteers. They should be an effective fundraiser and possess excellent marketing skills. Ideally the Executive and Artistic Director should have:

  • post-secondary education in Arts and Cultural Management; 
  • management experience in finance, fundraising and marketing;
  • demonstrated professional communication skills and strong interpersonal skills, and;
  • considerable knowledge of the performing arts industry and/or the not-for-profit sector.
